Frequently Asked Questions

  1. When does the contest end?
The contest is ongoing and runs for 3 months at a time. Winners will be chosen on the following dates:
Contest Starts Finalists Chosen / Finalist Voting Begins Contest Ends / Winners Chosen
    November 1 January 15 January 31
    February 1 April 15 April 30
    May 1 July 15 July 31
    August 1 October 15 October 31
  2. I just submitted my photo, but I don't see it on the site!
Photos are held for review in queue prior to posting. They will not appear immediately, but will appear after being reviewed.
  3. Can I submit more than one photo per voting period?
Yes. We recommend however that you limit the number of photos you submit to your best images. When you send in more than one photo you in essence are competing against yourself.
  4. Can I submit a friend's photo?
No. You must be the owner of the photo you submit. You must own the copyrights to the image you send.
  5. How do I see the past winners of the Voting Periods?
    Visit the Winners page.
  6. Is there anything I should know about submitting my photo?
Yes. We would like to see all photos titled. For example... Tom and I Owyhee River Canyon.
Please remember that the quality of the image is as important as the subject matter. Photos too light are washed out, or photos that are too dark and shadowed lack definition and contrast. Ensure that the photo is clear, not blurry or grainy, and that a person's image does not have "red-eye" in the photo.
You must own the copyrights to any photos that you submit.
  7. What type of photos are you asking the public to submit?
The emphasis on each eligible photo entry must be placed on scenic outdoor images or Idaho cultural landmarks and events to qualify. A list would include, but not be limited to, mountains, rivers, streams, sand dunes, sunsets, sunrises, forests, parks, hot springs, as well as other images that emphasize the beauty of the State. Photos that are taken to emphasize people do not meet the contest guidelines and will not be considered. Farm Bureau Insurance reserves the right to post only those photos that in Farm Bureau's opinion meet these guidelines.
  8. Is the information I give to enter the Farm Bureau Insurance Reasons To Love Idaho Photo Contest given out to anyone else?
No. The information is kept solely within Farm Bureau Insurance Company. The information you provide to Farm Bureau to enter is for the contest administrators. See our privacy policy.
  9. If my photo didn't win in a past period, is it still eligible to win in the future?
    Yes.
  10. Can I mail my photo to you?
No. We must receive all entries through our submission form. We cannot accept entries in any other way.
  11. Can two members of my family submit the same photo in one period?
No. Each photo must be submitted only once. Besides, if the same photo is submitted twice, it will reduce the chances of winning, since they will be competing with their self!
  12. How old do I have to be to enter the contest?
For legal reasons, all entrants must be at least 18 years old at time of entry.
  13. Is there a location requirement?
To enter you must be a legal resident of the US, located in the US at the time of entry.
  14. How Are Contest Winners Selected

During phase one of each contest period photos are submitted by each participant and the public is asked to vote on each photo. There are roughly four periods per year. At the end of each quarterly phase the top vote getting photos are narrowed down to a smaller group of finalists. These finalists are selected by a combination of popular vote and by a panel of contest judges.

The finalist group is then posted and the public is encouraged to vote for the winner. The winner of the group of finalists is selected by popular vote only.
